די ווימפּלען אונטערשיידן זיך לויט די אָרטיקע טראַדיציעס. אין דײַטשישע קהילות, רופֿט מען עס ״ווימפּל״ און געמאַכט פֿון אַ געוועב, אין וועלכן האָט מען געוויקלט דאָס קינד בעת זײַן ברית־מילה. אין אַנדערע קהילות רופֿט מען עס ״מפּה״, ״אַוונעט״ אָדער ״פֿאַשאַ״. אין ראָמאַניִאָטישע קהילות איז עס אַ גראַדעקיק, דעקאָרירט געוועב מיט שלייפֿן אויף צו צודעקן דאָס קעסטל פֿאַר ספֿר־תּורה. דעם אײַנהיל פֿון קעסטל פֿאַר ספֿר־תּורה און דאָס געוועב, וואָס פֿאַרשפּרייט דעם טיש מיט דער תּורה, רופֿט מען ״מפּה״ אין ראָמאַניִאָטישע קהילות אין גריכלאַנד, בשעת אין ספֿרדישער רבנישער ליטעראטור רופֿט מען דאָס געוועב פֿאַרן טיש, דאָס ווימפּל און תּורה־מאַנטל ווי ״מפּה״, וואָס מאַכט שוועריקייטן צו פֿאַרשטיין, וועלכן אָביעקט מיינט מען.
