(Keswa el Kbira)
A ceremonial costume worn for the first time by a Jewish woman on her wedding day.
Of Spanish influence and widespread in the cities of northern Morocco, it consists of a wraparound skirt, (“zeltita”), a bolero (“gombaiz”) worn over a velvet breastplate covered with gold thread embroidery (“ktef”), long and wide muslin sleeves (“kmam”) attached to the bolero, and a gold laminated silk belt (“hzam”). After the wedding, the married woman wears it on important occasions.
