Luce accesa per l'anniversario della morte di un parente stretto, come anche in occasione di Yom Kippur e altre ricorrenze.


In Nord Africa, molte lampade commemorative appese nelle sinagoghe sono di vetro. Le lampade commemorative fatte in ottone e appese sul muro sono chiamate “kandil”.
